July 28-31 we will be headed to Cran-Hill Ranch for a short summer service trip. We will be staying in the Stone House. This is open to both Sr. High and Jr. High students. The best part is that it is free, that is right it is free. The first 14 students to sign-up will be guaranteed a spot, if we get more than 14 we will do our best to find more lodging. Jr. High Youth Group tonight at 6:30. Our friend Will the Juggler will be performing at 6:30 in front of church. When he is done we will head over to the fire pit to play some games and have snacks. We will be done at 8:00. Please bring a mask and a chair.
Jr. HighWe are cancelling worship and youth group tonight due to the cold weather and the chance for rain. We will begin youth group next week, more details to come soon. Contact Matt if you have any questions.
Jr. High2020 continues to keep us on our toes, so as we continue to adapt Youth Group will look a little bit different this fall. Both Jr. High and Sr. High will meet on their usual nights but all of our meetings will be outside. We will plan to meet at the fire pit at the community garden. That being said this will require us to be highly adaptable. Some weeks the weather will be crummy, and we will have to cancel or find a different spot to meet. We will most likely only have youth group until the end of October, or when it gets too cold to meet outside, again we will need to be flexible and adaptable. Once to weather gets to cold we will move to doing youth group on Zoom.
Here are a few ways you can help keep everyone safe and help youth group run smoothly. First if you have been exposed to anyone with Covid-19, you are feeling sick, have a fever, etc. please stay home. Second, please wear your mask unless you are eating a snack or taking a drink. Third, do your best to social distance. Finally bring a chair!
For those who are not comfortable coming in person, Matt will record short videos of the lessons so that you will be able to keep up on what we are learning.

Jr. High we will start Sept. 9th, we will be joining the congregation for Outdoor Worship at 7:00pm in front of the church. Then we will walk to the Ice Cream Garage, please bring a mask, but there is no need for money. We will wrap up at 9:00pm.
Sr. High we will meet at 6:00pm on Sunday, Sept. 13th at the fire pit. Bring and mask and a chair, we will be done by 7:30.

After chatting with the Reformed Church offices and the leaders of North Street Missions in Wooster, Ohio we have decided it would be the wisest choice to cancel our mission trip this summer. We have already made plans to head there in 2021, and any graduating senior is welcome to come along with us.
My heart breaks for all of you who were looking forward to this trip. I know I was excited for a great week. If it is safe, I will try to organize local service projects for later this summer or maybe a short trip to somewhere close by for a night or two. Please stayed tuned, we will keep you updated about this summer.

Just a quick update on both Sr. High and Jr. High Youth Group. As most of you have probably guessed we will not be having any in person gatherings for a while, we will wait for the medical experts to let us know it is safe to gather again.
In the meantime we are doing our best to stay connected through videos and online chats. We have been doing interviews with our Jr. High Leaders that you can find at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCd4lJDjshWwo3QoY3uKQw1w/about We will keep adding to those one or twice a week.
On Wednesdays nights at 7:00pm we start doing a Zoom call with as many Jr. High Students and Leaders as possible. Matt will lead a short lesson and we will just check-in with everyone. Please download Zoom to your phone or computer and Matt will share the specific call number on Remind and Facebook.
For Sr. High we will do the same on Sunday nights at 7:00pm. We started last week and it was great. Please download Zoom and watch for Matt to pass along the invite.

Dates: June 21-June 27
We will leave at noon on June 21st. We will return at 2:00pm on June 27th. Please eat before we leave. Plan on money for a meal on the way and two meals on the way home. Bring some spending money for snacks, drinks, etc. throughout the week.
There is a sign-up on the Youth Bulletin Board. Please sign up by April 1st. After April 1st the cost goes up to $400. If you are signed up and back out after April 1st you will be charged $50. Last minute changes are usually costly to the youth group budget and cause logistical issues so please let your “yes be yes and your no be no”

Genesis 2020- March 13-15
Genesis is fast approaching here are a few details you need to know. We will leave at 4:15pm March 13th and return at 3:00pm on March 11. We will also be offer a later van on the 13th for those who can’t leave by 4:15. Bring money for a fast food stop on the way up to Genesis, money for a fast food stop on the way home, and there are also shops at Grand Traverse and booths for the artists at Genesis so you may want to bring a few dollars for those as well.
There is a pool at the Grand Traverse Resort, bring a swimsuit if you would like.
All bedding and towels will be provided.
Bring personal toiletry items
Bring your Bible, notebook, and a pen.
Bring food / Snacks for the weekend (please bring enough to share)

Jr. HighHello High School Students and Parents,
We are quickly approaching the Spaghetti Dinner and Dessert Auction and we need your help to make it happen. Students plan on being at church by 4:00pm on February 8th, you will be helping serve food and cleaning up. We also need your help recruiting people to come, people to donate desserts, and to donate to the brown bag auction. The brown bag auction is something new we are adding to the fun and to add to our ability to raise more funds. It will be a silent auction that we auction off items that will fit inside a plain brown lunch bag. It could be a gift certificate, it could be something handmade, it could be a gag gift, we want to have some fun with this. Please ask family, friends, and local businesses for donations for the brown bag auction.
This is our only fundraiser for our summer mission trip to Wooster, OH (more on that later this week). If you have any questions please let Matt know.

Wear a costume tonight! If you don’t have a costume we can find one at church. Please make sure your costume won’t scare the kids at church though, make sure it is a friendly costume. We will be playing lots of fun fall games tonight! See you all at 5:30 for dinner and 6:15 for the start of Youth Group.

Wednesday, July 31st we will be going to Michigan’s Adventure. This is open to all students going into 6th Grade through those going into 9th Grade. The cost is $35. We will be leaving at 10:00am and returning at 6:00pm. Please bring a towel and a swimsuit if you want to enjoy the water park. If you want to eat lunch in the park please bring money, or pack your own lunch and we will have a cooler in the van. Parents and friends of Sr. High Youth Group we need your help for set up and in the kitchen during the event. A couple of our leaders who usually take care of things in the kitchen cannot be there. Please let me know if you willing to help in the kitchen on February 23rd.

Spaghetti Dinner/Dessert Auction February 23 6:00pm
Cost $10 per person, $30 for a family
This is our big fundraiser for the Sr. High Summer Trip. The evening begins with a catered spaghetti dinner and is followed by our Dessert Auction. Don’t miss this evening of laughter and fun. Sign up outside the CLC. If you can’t come you can still donate desserts!
Retreat: March 8-10 We will be going to Cran-Hill Ranch for our retreat. We will be staying in the Stone House. The Cost is $80. As always at Cran-Hill we will be having a ton of fun playing outside, sitting by a fire in the Stone House, eating way too much food and reading God’s word together. We will be leaving the evening of the 8th and return around noon on the 10th. Please sign up on the bulletin board. We have room for 18 people so invite a friend. The sign-up is on the youth bulletin board.
Sr. HighIt is our policy that when Grandville cancels school, we cancel our activities. So we will resume next week, Jan. 23.
Summer Trip: We are changing things up a bit this summer, instead of a mission trip we are going on an adventure. We are going to go backpacking at Pictured Rocks, Christian Adventure is a company run by Cran-Hill and they are going to guide our trip. We will be going from June 27-July 2. Christian Adventures takes care of all of the details and the gear we just show up with enough clothes and a good pair of hiking boots. The cost is $450. I look forward to spending that time surround by the splendor of God’s creation, with dear friends. We will spend time reading God’s Word and discussing it as a group. This will be a great week of growth as we are in awe of God’s grandeur and as dig deeply in God’s word. We will have more details soon but we do need a minimum of 8 people to go, so please sign up on the Bulletin Board ASAP, (If your name is your is on the list you are saying yes to going, so please don’t put your name on there until you are 100% sure you are going)
